Kindergarten Reading Help

We are in Germany where they really don’t learn anything in Kindergarten. They just play all day. Except she is learning how to speak (not read) German.
I’m trying to home-school her a bit with those colorful work books, but she is not very interested. We will go back to the USA just before September when she’ll go into 1st grade where she will be one of the oldest in her class. (So I can’t hold her back)
Are there any good (that you’ve actually used) videos, books, programs etc. that would help? I have no idea how to teach a child to read. Especially when sitting down with mom is boring. Right now she doesn’t even recognize all her letters. I have a lot of work to do, but don’t really know how to go about it.

This is a TWP in ohio . we went to enroll our now 5 year old for next year,, they said that it would be $240 per month,, we DO live in this school district!! They say that since it’s a five day all day program thats why they charge! But their loop hole to make this legal(???) is they will allow them to go twice a week at no charge… I feel that they are just trying to weed out maybe the renters in our area ,, yes we rent,, no we can’t afford $240, and my son only going twice per week is a step backwards , since he goes to preschool now 3 times a week,,! I am now 29 I went to Kindergarten 5 half days per week growing up,, FREE.. (do You think this is legal?What this TWP is doing? I mean we (renters) Do pay property tax .. included in the rent !!

Its a program that helps little ones

My son will be finishing kindergarten in 2 weeks. What programs are available to do at home to continue progress through the summer? He has learned so much in this first year, I want to avoid backsliding as much as possible. Thanks!

What is a kid supposed to learn in kindergarten? All I remember is dress-up, reading, and show-and-tell. It seems like a waste of time for my daughter. Will she actually learn something new in kindergarten?

My daughter is five and would be entering kindergarten this month if she were going to public school. I’ve been counting to her and my son since they were babies, using words like “more” and “less” etc. She’s pretty exceptional in the language department (said her first word at four months, put two words together at 11 months) but she doesn’t get math. Am I expecting too much of her too soon?
I’ll ask her how many carrot sticks she has. She’ll count, “One, two, three, four.” I’ll say, “Good, you have four carrot sticks. How many?” She’ll count again, while looking at me. “1, 2, 3, 4.” “Shirley, there are four carrot sticks.” “Yeah, I know, 1, 2, 3, 4.” For the record, she’s only been counting to ten for about a month. Maybe she’s just a late bloomer. Any advice?
She also has some signs of dyslexia for the pre-reading age group, like not knowing which hand is dominant, switching letters in words while speaking(mazagine for magazine) and she can’t write or draw well.

my daughter just got a scholastic book catalog..she is in kindergarten…her reading and writing is pretty advance…what reading level should I order for her?

I am having a hard time finding GOOD ones.

Im looking for a website that my daughter can read books on that are free. not anything to buy but just to read. let me know if you do please.

Would you murder anybody, just because God tells you so? If not, isn’t God he who defines morality?
If you are going to say God would never do that because he is good, then I suggest you read the old testament. He killed thousands upon thousands of people in various ways. Would it really be so strange if he used you as a tool for his will, in this age? Has God changed that much since the Old Testament?
