PostHeaderIcon What Can Starting To Speak Late As A Child Mean?

I started talking when I was two and a half, which I’m told is old, but when I started talking I spoke in full sentences.
I did something similar when I started to read. I read later than everyone else (in first grade instead of Kindergarten), but once I learned I started to read on a 4th grade level.
What could of caused this?

PostHeaderIcon Suggestions For A Great Children’s Book (preschool/kindergarten)?

I’m involved with the Speech Team and was wondering if you could help me. For one of the meets coming up early next year there is a storytelling event. The event consists of the group of competitors each expressively reading a children’s book to a group of preschool/kindergarten aged children. After all the stories have been read, the children decide which reader they liked most. I was wondering if anyone could give me some titles of books that just love to hear. In order to do well in this event, I’m thinking that I need a book that is either very memorable or really funny. If you have any suggestions for me, I would really appreciate it.

PostHeaderIcon Okay, So I Wanna Be A Kindergarten Teacher When I Get Older,?

and I’m not sure like what degrees I’m supposed to get or anything.
I read somewhere that it would be wise to get your master’s degree, but like do I have to take college for 4 years and then get the master’s or can I just do it while I’m in college for the 4 years.
This may sound kinda confusing, because I’m not sure really how to phrase this, but let me know if it is or not.
Please and thank you.

PostHeaderIcon How Do I Teach My Son To Read?

it’s summer time and i want my child to learn how to read. he is very intelligent and can write very well. he is just stubborn to the sound it out technique. very stubborn. when looking at a work, he’s like…”i know what it says so just tell me.” kids, they are so funny. no, there’s nothing wrong with him, just plain ole stubborness!
he’s going to be five in july and since he’s already recognizing a bunch of sight words and writing so well i would think he is ready to try. i don’t know if kindergarten will be challenging enough for him considering he has already been in prek since he was 3. so i want him to be able and ready and above and beyond what his teachers expect. i may be a crazy mom but i just want to ensure that i can teach him something this summer. i read to him, he knows what letters are and what sound they make, believe me, he’s so smart…any ideas and tips to get me started?

PostHeaderIcon Kindergarten Question Again?

Ok, the first time I asked, everyone read my question wrong. I want to know which time of day is better for children to learn. Morning, or afternoon? My daughter begins kindergarten this fall and I have the choice between a morning class that starts around 8:30, and an afternoon class that starts at 12:15. Please give me your input as to how your children have done with learning if they are in morning or afternoon kindergarten. I think my daughter will do fine either way….I’m just wondering other parents’ opinions!

PostHeaderIcon How Can I Get My 6 Year Old Daughter To Concentrate And Focus More At School?

My 6 year old daughter is having a hard time at school. She was in preschool from age 3-5 and everything went well for kindergarten last year. Now she hates going to school and won’t sit still in class and do her work. She has been sitting alone (not in a group) since the 2nd week of school. My husband and I read with her everynight. She doesn’t have problems doing grade 2 level math and is reading at a grade 2 level. Her teacher has been uncooperative. She is always making bad comments like ” Your daughter didn’t focus today”, in front of her.She suggested we get her tested for ADD, our Doctor doesn’t seem to think she has it, neither does anyone else that knows her. Basically, I feel my child is a bit immature…she is still only 6 and 95% of the kids in her class are already 7. My husband and I are meeting with the principal tomorrow, the teacher has pretty much indicated she doesn’t want to talk with us. At this point I am just tired of punishing my kid, she really is a good kid.

PostHeaderIcon Is There A Sadder Place On Earth Than Yahoo Answers?

I am referring to the section here populated by simpleton Christians.
Honestly, reading your questions and answers makes me crave the intellectual stimulation that a kindergarten class could provide.
You people kill brain cells.
I weep for humanity knowing that there are so many dimwits worshipping a left over tribal war god from the Bronze Age.
You people really need to read yer bibles as nothing will turn you off that horrible book quicker.
