Homeschool Kindergarten?
I have a Kindergarten child That I home school and I have tried everything to make reading fun but he is just not interested. I am scared he will slack behind and need some advice. What is a good learn to read program that we can purchase that is fun for children? I have heard of hooked on phonics but is this as productive as they say or a waste of money? Do you have any suggestions? Thanks

How Do I Get My 5 Year Old To Sleep At Night?
We have a 5 year old daughter who we have on a schedule that we follow every night. At 8pm she gets her bath, brushes her teeth, we read her a book and she lays down by 9pm. She comes into our room several times a night and is NEVER asleep until after 11:30. My husband and I are not getting adequate sleep, while she seems to need very little! She is up every morning around 6:00 am and does not take a nap during the day. We do not allow her to drink soft drinks except on Saturday and she does not eat a lot of sugar. We have no trouble laying her down and keeping her in bed (except her visit to our bed on ocassion) but she, in her words is, “just not sleepy mommy”. I worry about her sleeping habits causing a problem when she starts Kindergarten in August. Any uggestions??

I Need Help Getting My 5 Year Old To Focus On Homework (kindergarten)?
My son is in Kindergarten and the kids have to start learning to spell and read (sound out words). My son refuses to focus, he will sound out cat (or spell it) but then pitches a fit and starts crying saying ‘I can’t do this’. Any advice on how I can get him to start trying and getting the letters and letter sounds to sink in ??? I keep trying to make games out of it – like cutting out letters and telling him to spell cat, dog, hat etc,,, but once he does one the meltdown insues…
How Can I Best Help A Learning Disabled Child Learn To Read?
What will work? This child is repeating kindergarten, and still cannot consistently identify letters, sounds, or sight words. He’s getting special help, but I would like to know what methods are most successful for a young child learning to read.
What Is The Best System To Teach A Young Child To Read?
I have a six year old son, who is in preschool. He’s not a fast learner, which is fine. However, I would like to give him a head start before he enters kindergarten and first grade so he doesn’t fall behind when the time comes. What are some good ways to start teaching him to read? He already knows his alphabet, but doesn’t know all his letter sounds yet.
Is My Child’s Teacher A Slave Driver Or Do All Kindergartners Get This Much Homework?
My daughter started kindergarten two and a half weeks ago. This is her second week of homework and it is taking 30 minutes a night plus 15 minutes of reading every night. She is starting to get real bored with it already after sitting in a classroom everyday for 6 hours. Do all kindergarteners get this much or is her teacher the exception?
How Old Was Your Child And What Grade Were They In When He/she Learned To Read?
I am just wondering what grade and age your children were when they learned to read. My son is going to be seven in July. He is only in Kindergarten because we started him a year late. He has some special needs so he has been delayed in a few areas over the years. We are concerned that he is not reading yet as my other children were at his age, but there is a difference between him and them in that when they were his age they were in first grade not kindergarten. He can’t even sound out his letters yet. He can write Mom, Dad, and his name though.
Is My Sister’s Daily Prep School Schedule Okay For Her Age (5 And Kindergarten)?
Is my sister’s daily prep school schedule okay for her age (5 and Kindergarten)?
It’s my sister’s first year at a new private prep school, K-5. Is this schedule okay?
8:00-8:10: Attendance
8:10-8:30: Spelling and Vocabulary
8:30-8:50: Reading
8:50-9:10: Writing
9:10-9:30: Arithmetic
9:30-9:50: Data and Logic
9:50-10:10: Ecology
10:10-10:30: History
10:30-10:50: Geography
10:50-11:30: French
From there on it depends. There are enrichment programs after-school, and you can stay for lunch if you want. But she has Intense gymnastics, plus she needs dance for that, so she doesn’t go. But seriously, is that good for a 5 year old?
