What Do You Think About Multi-age Classrooms?especially Anyone That Has Had A Child In A K-1 Class Or Teachers
I have just found that my son is going to be in a multi-age classroom this year. I had already known he’d be with the same teacher from last year and I had said that I thought that a multi-age classroom might be good for him. I had read about some benefits including overall more acceptance of differences and of peers, less peer pressure, the fact that children grow and learn from siblings that are of different ages than them, it can promote leadership, and nurturing qualities. As far as I know they will all be learning the first grade curriculum.(Children Kindergarten age that are ready to begin learning first grade skills already will be in this class along with the 1st graders.) I can see how it could benefit a child like my own who entered school at an early age and give them extra time to mature at their own rate…And I like that he will still be learning 1st grade level work. I was also wondering if anyonelse had any thoughts on this or anyone that who has experienced this could share.
Thanks!!!!
Does Anyone Know Of A Website That Has A Full List Of All Curriculum In Every Subject For Grades K-12?
I’m homeschooling and need to know what each grade level needs to learn….like kindergarten learns how to read, abcs, some writing, and simple math like 2+2=4…1st grade keeps practicing reading, a little harder math, and writing…….I need to know what the rest of the grades need to learn….mostly in highschool…..there was a site I found before but i forgot the name. It had a full list of curriculum for every subject for every grade. It was a really helpful site but I forgot the name….please help and try to find a site like that…..thank you!
Remember The Letter People?
“Come and meet the Letter People, come and visit the family, words are made of Letter People, ABCD follow me!” Remember that show? Thanks to Youtbue, I rediscovered just how great it was, and a bunch of memories of watching it school in kindergarten came back. (What’s interesting is I already knew how to read going into kindergarten, but I still loved the Letter People…) Anyone else remember this great show?
Does Your Child Have Adhd? If So, Did You Decide To Put Him/her On Medicine?
My oldest child, a son who is 7 yrs old and in first grade( repeated kindergarten) was diagnosed with ADHD and I decided to put him on medicine to help him concentrate in school and to calm down with his hyperactivity. I have heard about the possible side effects, but I thought all medicine even over the counter has side effects. I don’t regret putting my son on medicine even though alot of people in my family are against it. I feel like it should be up to me if I’m the one taking care of him and three other children 24-7 and I’m the only one helping him with his schooling as far as homework and reading books and all that is concerned.
What Would You Do?
ok, i have a photographic memory, and can retain a lot of information for an extreme amount of time but this guy always makes fun of me and my grades, even when they’re not that bad!
well anyways it drives me crazy and i can outbeat him in spelling, grammar, english, vocab, science, and s.s., and i have the grades to prove it, but on one test i got a 120 and he got a 90, and he was so p.o. that he just stormed around all day. i didnt say anything to him either, he just looked at my paper and read my grade, even when i hid it!
but then one day i got a 70 on a pop quiz, because i hadnt read the chapter, and he got a 95, and he started laughin at me and told everyone! this really made me p.o. and he wont stop making fun of my intelligence, and im a smart girl! i even had a chance to skip a grade when i was in KINDERGARTEN, because i was reading CHARLOTTES WEB.
well any time he gets a better grade then me, he’ll laugh, and i wont if i do better than him because i dont . . .
Does My Daughter Have Dyslexia?
my daughter has skipped kindergarten because she could read really early on. She was one of the best spellers in the fourth grade. Now in 7th grade going on to 8th she can barely read and she can barely spell. Dos dyslexia develop or what? I’m confused she gets made fun of by friends saying she is stupid. she gives up at school because she gets D’s. It takes her over one hour to read a chapter in a regualr little reading book. Even one of her teachers said she was a waste of time to teach because she never caught on with her reading. My daughter just plays it off like its an act in front of the teachers and friends, but i know she i struggling. I thought it was the right thing to move her up but now i dont know. Does she have dyslexia
Husbands Inability To Read Hurting Relationship?
I’ve been married for 7 yrs and knew early on that my husband had hadn’t finished high school but I didn’t know the extent to which he was so behind. I’ve tried more with him than anything else to help him understand but he just doesn’t have any drive. I have to fill out every form and read everything that comes in/out of our lives. We have a child in kindergarten who is starting to read and I can’t help but feel horrible that he’ll find out his dad is basically illiterate. He can read a few obvious things but spelling….forget it. He watches TV every spare minute he has and has fooled himself into thinking it’s the equivalent of reading…just without words.
I’ve taken days off from work to meet with counsellors who are willing to help him and he’ll cancel or not follow through. I don’t feel I can keep living like his. It’s like having 2 kids. His ignorance causes him to say a lot of stupid things and I try to ignore it but I just don’t know how he can be so unenthusiastic about his own life. He’s gonna work a dead end job for the rest of his life and I’ll just pick up the slack as usual. Don’t mean to whine but what to do? I’m not asking him to read for me but for himself so we all can have some quality of life.
Do You Think The Bush Administration Is Reviving The Cold War?

It sure looks like it- but hey, we can always use even MORE enemies! Geez.
Did the Bushies miss the day in kindergarten that focused on playing nicely with others?
A Question About Daydreams – Queen Elizabeth Ii And Bidets?
It occurred to me one day, after having a little muse to myself whilst sitting on the bog having an excellent dump, whether or not the Queen – you know Elizabeth II not Brian May & what’s left of the rock group, actually has a BIDET in the Royal bathroom or bathrooms, as she’s got several residences hasn’t she; being as she’s one of the world’s richest women and all?
I mean she’s 81 now & after a lifetime of frugality (that means she doesn’t like to spend much on things – for those of you reading this on the Kindergarten Continent) she might’ve decided to spash out (please excuse the awful pun) on a bit of luxury in her old age. Using that hard, thin, disinfectant medicated toilet paper what’s it called now http://www.dooyoo.co.uk/household-produc… ah yes IZAL thats it, the Royal buttocks must be pretty sore by now & so she might feel that after a lifetime’s service to her country she’s earnt the right to a little comfort – do you think this is the case?
Parents Of Kindergarteners?
Do kindergartners do homework? if, you do homework with your kindergarten how many hours are we talking and what do you cover?
My son just started kindergarten this year–I read to him every night for 20 Min’s (30 Min’s if I have time) other than that I don’t do a lot with him on during the weekdays. On the weekends however, I make sure he practices his writing and counting nothing BIG.
I was talking to a neighbor who’s daughter is in kindergarten also, and she was telling me that her daughter who goes to school 8-3 comes home and does an hour of social studies and science.
Which then she takes her daughter to Kumon Learning Center for reading and math. Comes back home takes shower and eats dinner.
I did not go to school in the states..and ever since she told me that I have been questioning myself..is my kid behind? his teacher says he’s doing wonderful!! or is my neighbor over doing this whole academics.
That’s nearly 10 hours for a six year old.
Please do share your opinion. Thanks
