Book Series Suggestion For 4 & 6 Year Old?
I’d like a suggestion from all of you on a good book series to get my 6yo boy who’s in kindergarten and my 4yo girl who will start kindergarten this fall. Maybe something with a brother-sister team. We read every night, but mostly small basic books. I’d like an on-going story line with “what happens next?” so they can’t wait to get the next night’s story. Thank You!
My daughter is 5 and in kindergarten – we read the Magic Treehouse series, and she loves it. The chapters are short enough that she doesn’t get bored, and within the next year or 2 as her reading skills get better she will be able to read them herself. They are about a brother and sister who go on different adventures through books in their magic treehouse. There are a lot of interesting facts about different subjects (dinosaurs, ancient China, the rainforest, etc.)
Magic treehouse, Junie B Jones, Mudge the Dog, Biscuit
Magic Treehouse, Nate the Great. Junie B. Jones is one my kids like a lot but that I find really annoying.
Veggie Tales…
Magic tree house…
Learning books…
It is wonderful for children when they are read to and encouraged to read and learn.
A to Z mysteries is good…but might be out of age range for your children right now.
Dr. Seuss is good too.
Junie B. Jones books are good for girls.
I am trying to recall what books my niece enjoyed the most at that age…
As well as what books are popular in the school where I work…
Hannah Montana, Bob the Builder, ……something the big red dog…(sorry I can’t remember the complete name.)
Hope this helps.
My 6 yr old son likes the Capt Underpants series. He also enjoyed the Little House series by Laura Ingells Wilder. Your daughter may get into that too.
I agree with the last response. We read Magic Treehouse books almost every night. My 5 and 6 year olds love them. There are dozens of these books in the series and it’s fun to start with Book #1 and keep going (although we’ve read some out of order and that works too). I even went to i-tunes and made CD of some of the books so they could listen to them in the car and on an airplane (with headphones). My kids also get a kick out of the Max and Ruby books by Rosemary Wells. These are light-hearted and funny…and also involve a brother and sister. We usually get these out at the library.
