PostHeaderIcon David Peltzer?

Have you read his trilogy? -A Child Called It- -The Lost Boy- -A Man Named Dave- I have read all three, they were very hard for me to read, especially since I’m a kindergarten teacher. I want to know what everyone elsse thinks about those books.
-Also, if you are in any public service organization, especially with children, I recommend you read them.

What an incredible survivor story David has written! – it IS difficult to read because we know the abuse was real – and it is soooo hard to understand how a mother could do this. David’s strength and determination of human will is one the most inspirational. Bless him many times over for not succumbing to the endured torture, but instead rising above to become a respected motivational speaker!! He has taken the most negative thing that could happen to a child and turned those experiences into helping others…That man has an amazing heart :-)

I read them and advise the person who only read the first to continue reading, he has an incredible story that does get better.
My 6th and 7th grade students from an inner city school really liked reading it, made them feel their awful situations weren’t so bad. I personally didn’t think that any 6th or 7th grader should read it but we really can’t stop them and trying only fuels the fire.
I think he was on Oprah too.

As a circulation clerk at a public library branch I have seen these books go out more often for more years than any other nonfiction. It surprises me -though maybe it shouldn’t- that 85-90% of the checkouts are girls and young women between the ages of about 12 and 20.
I agree that anyone who works with children should read the series. Though I only could only handle about halfway through A Child Called It, I intend to try again when my emotions aren’t quite as close to the surface.
    Namaste,

I’ve read them. They were emotional, but I’m a student social worker so it was useful for me to read them.
